San Francisco, California
This 42,000 SF project consists of 56 studio apartments for formerly homeless
adults plus on-site services. Safe, quiet open space, protected from the urban
environment, was an important part of the design. This is provided at the
rear of the building, as a landscaped plaza on the second floor podium. A
café is planned for the street level retail space; this business provides
the opportunity for workforce training for residents. The project is being
developed in conjunction with an adjacent 180-unit family housing complex.
The design and development teams have worked collaboratively throughout the
process to create compatible urban neighbors.
