At the College of Marin, we are transforming two existing auto shop buildings into a new Transportation Technology Complex. Based on in-depth programming and existing conditions analysis, the building interiors are being totally reconfigured to support the educational program and curriculum, and will incorporate all new equipment and building systems. A new building addition, linking the two structures will provide office and student support spaces and act as a gateway to the facilities. The complex and its vital program offerings ties into the campus-wide commitment to workforce education. While the building shell and footprint will remain relatively unchanged, the roofing system will be modified to support PV panels and glazing elements will be enhanced to increase natural day-lighting and ventilation. Committed to green principles, the design team will incorporate sustainable design features throughout with the goal of LEED certification.
