This senior housing project
consists of the adaptive re-use of an existing church building, in the Haight
Ashbury neighborhood of San Francisco, into 40 units of affordable housing
for independent seniors. The church, while not formally on the Historic
Register, has been determined architecturally significant by the City. The
intent of the design was to preserve as much of the existing facade as possible
and maintain the important historic character. The units are arranged on
four levels with seven (7) one bedroom and thirty-three (33) studio units.
Individual apartments in Buena Vista Terrace provide full kitchens and private
baths. Common amenities include a computer center, a laundry facility, library,
and community space on the first floor. The project also includes six (6)
off-street parking places and a private outdoor patio.
